Carrie Keith - MStJ

Carrie Keith is a practising artist focusing on acrylic painting and sculpture.  Her dynamic use of vibrant colours creates dramatic, mystical effects.  Her attention to detail helps her paintings tell stories of Aotearoa and the people who call here home. Her use of brushes, sponges, palette knives, and various mediums creates a delicate balance between light and dark, day and night.

Carrie connects with the wairua (spirit) of her subjects, creating a deep connection with each piece. Throughout the year you will find her travelling Aotearoa exploring the back blocks and those hard-to-reach places on one of her adventures. Or back in her home studio working on commissions, but wherever she is, she is always creating.

She is recognized for her work with young people and volunteering for her community in the Hurunui District. She is currently running an art group focussing on teenagers and positive mental health strategies and donating to IAMHOPE when she can.  She studies at Te Wānanga O Aotearoa and is enjoying the connections with people that the art world brings.
